The Centre for Management Development (CMD) is a leading,
self-supporting autonomous institution, which provides Research,
Consulting and Training support to the Development Agencies,
Corporate Sector and the Government, both at the National
as well as State level. Established in 1979, it is sponsored
by the Government of Kerala as an independent, professional
registered society.
MANAGEMENT
A
Governing Board consisting of representatives from Industry,
University, Government of Kerala and Professional Management
Associations manage the Centre. Shri. V. Ramachandran, former
Vice-Chairman, Kerala State Planning Board, former Chief Secretary
to Government of Kerala and member, Administrative Reforms
Committee, Govt. of India, is the current Chairman of the
Governing Board.
INFRASTRUCTURE
AND SUPPORT FACILITIES
Premises
The Centre
is located in its own multi-storeyed building in the heart
of the City. Eighteen thousand sq. ft. of floor area provides
ample space for lecture halls, faculty offices and other auxiliary
facilities such as a Library and a Computer Centre.
Library
The
CMD has a good library with volumes that cover all functional
areas of Management. The library subscribes to all leading
Journals and periodicals published from India and abroad.
Some of the well known foreign periodicals available in the
library include Harvard Business Review, Sloan Management
Review, The Academy of Management Review, Organisational Dynamics
and The Economist. Back volumes of many of these journals
are also available.
Computer
lab
The
CMD has computer facilities to take care of its training and
research needs. The computer centre has IBM compatible multi
processors with analytical and statistical software packages,
and Internet facilities.
LOCATION
Centre
for Management Development is located at Thiruvananthapuram,
the capital of Kerala State. It is also the educational capital,
with a University, institutions offering specialised programmes
at graduate and post-graduate levels, and advanced research
centres. Thiruvananthapuram is well connected by air and rail
to all metropolises in India. Besides, backwaters and hills
in close proximity provide a clean, healthy and beautiful
environment.
