Assessment of World Bank Assisted India Rubber Project
A
World Bank Assisted India Rubber Project is under implementation
with the objectives of expanding and strengthening the rubber
plantation section to increase production, productivity and
quality of rubber and enhancing on-farm and off-farm employment.
The main components of the Project are: (i) Replanting (ii)
New Planting (iii) Productivity enhancement. The project envisaged
the monitoring and evaluation of the impact and effectiveness
of various schemes. The objective of the study was to assess
the impact of implementing replanting/new planting and productivity
enhancements schemes of the India Rubber Project on the techno-economic
and social status of the participatory holders vis-à-vis
other holders in Kerala, Kanyakumari district of Tamil Nadu
and Karnataka. 7785 samples of small holders were selected
and data collected through a questionnaire survey. The data
were analysed and a report prepared based on the project objectives
and submitted to the World Bank and the Rubber Board.
