North Kerala Dairy Project - Strategy for Dairy Co-operative Formation and Milk Procurement

The study was to prepare strategy for forming Anand Model Cooperatives and procuring milk in the North Kerala Dairy Project. The strategy for guiding the rapid growth of the cooperative infrastructure and milk procurement was evolved considering the information on the location of cooperatives, the dispersion of procurable milk and the build up of milk handling infrastructure.

Besides these, areas of developmental activity are also identified for building up a milk procurement network at a later stage. CMD was assigned to coordinate the study on behalf of the Swiss Development Co-operation. The study included data collection through field surveys, workshops, and brain storming sessions with top officials & analysis of data/formulation of strategy.
