The
study on Infrastructure Facilities in North Malabar - A Case
Study of Selected Panchayats in Kasaragod, was sponsored by
the Kerala Research Programme on Local Level Development,
Centre for Development Studies. The objective of this research
study was to identify the factors and processes that have
contributed to infrastructure backwardness in Kasaragod district
and their consequences on development. The three types of
analyses that were done to identify the factors and process
are: i) a historical analysis, ii) a quantitative analysis
based on survey of households of selected panchayats and iii)
a qualitative analysis by interviewing key persons. The study
has been completed in June 2001.
