Plan for Rural Development in Mizoram
Rural
poverty alleviation is the core objective of the Ministry
of Rural Development (MoRD), GoI and the Ministry has been
implementing various schemes to achieve this purpose through
successive Five Year Plans. However, due to various reasons,
the State of Mizoram could not march along with the other
states in the country. Therefore, it was decided by the Govt.
of Mizoram to prepare a Perspective Plan for Rural Development
in Mizoram.
This Perspective
Plan has been prepared as a special package for 100% GoI assistance.
These are 10 separate schemes drawn in a holistic approach
initiated from grassroots level viz.,

Network (ZORMAS)

Area Connectivity
- Total
Sanitation Programme
- Rural
Information Bureau, IT Network & Community TV Programme
- People’s
Action for Development

Related Programme and
- Training
Emphasis
has been given on group approach. Wage employment and sustainable
incomes for a decent living are the tangible benefits expected
out of these programmes. Significant thrust has been given
to improvements in quality of life through availability of
sufficient safe drinking water and better personal/community
hygiene. The final report was submitted to the Govt. of Mizoram/Gol.
