The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has started the online application form for RRB Non Technical Popular Categories (NTPC) for graduate and undergraduate level posts. Candidates need to check the exam pattern for different stages, so they can well prepare for the recruitment and grab the job in Indian Railway.
To qualify the RRB NTPC Exam, candidates must pass all stages including CBT 1, CBT 2, CBAT & Skill Test for some posts.The RRB NTPC 2024 exam pattern for various stages is given below in the article. Read the complete article for exam patterns of all stages.
RRB NTPC CBT 1 (Stage 1) Exam Pattern 2024
- The CBT Stands for Computer Based Tests.
- This recruitment is of screening nature and the standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards prescribed for the posts.
- The general time for the exam is 90 minutes but Pwd candidates will get 120 minutes accompanied with scribe.
- There is also negative marking and ⅓ marks shall be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Total no. of candidates to be shortlisted shall be 15 times the community wise vacancies of posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in 1st Stage CBT.
- The normalized score of 1st Stage CBT shall be used for short listing of candidates for 2 nd Stage CBT as per their merit.

RRB NTPC Stage 2 (CBT 2) Exam Pattern 2024
- Candidates who qualified the stage-1 exam are eligible to participate in stage-2 exam.
- The marking scheme is the same as stage 1.
- The difficulty level is different from the CBT 1 exam.
- Candidates who qualified the stage 1 exam are eligible for the reservation in the stage 2.

RRB NTPC 2024 Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Candidates who qualified in the stage 2 exam will be shortlisted for the CBAT Test.
- Qualifying marks: The candidates need to secure a minimum T-Score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify.
- This applies to all candidates irrespective of community or category and no relaxation in the minimum T-Score is permissible.
- The CBAT shall have questions and answer options only in English and Hindi.
- There shall be no negative marking in CBAT.
- The SM (Station Master) merit list will be drawn only from amongst the candidates qualifying in the CBAT, with 70% weightage for the marks obtained in the 2 nd Stage CBT and 30% weightage for the marks obtained in CBAT.
NTPC Typing Skill Tests (TST) 2024
Candidates who have applied for posts Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist need to go through the typing test after the stage1 and stage 2 cleared.
- TST is qualifying in nature.
- The no of candidates qualified for this stage is the 8 times the no of vacancies.
- The candidates should be able to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only without editing tools and spell check facility.

Based on the performance of candidates in the CBT 2 examination Or Both CBT 2 exam and CBAT tests, candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for Document Verification as per their merit and options.
